Far from being dark, I actually think it's rather pretty. The changes in her skin, the look, from being very real (little freckles on her neck and everything), to an almost papery disintegration towards the back of her head is interesting.

She looks so delicate and breakable....actually, like someone maybe did break her already. Poor little dolly.
